Description:
Are you an experienced electrical, building services, or facilities engineer ready to take a lead in delivering substantial, multi-million-pound energy transformation and lighting upgrade projects?

Born out of extensive experience in the lighting industry, our client is a highly successful, and rapidly growing and evolving, SME business operating at the forefront of commercial energy efficiency and building decarbonisation. To facilitate this growth, it is pivotal to recruit an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to ensure the technical integrity of the rapidly expanding LED upgrade portfolio.

An excellent entry point for a hands-on, lead from the front operator to in time be expected to mould, shape, and develop a team as the business continues to grow.

The role: Working closely with Operational Leadership, Project Managers, Installation Managers and clients, you will provide the technical support required to support the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of LED upgrade projects across commercial, healthcare education and wider built environment settings. For the avoidance of doubt, this is not a creative lighting design role.

Key responsibilities:
• Review and validate LED upgrade proposals and technical documentation for compliance with BS 7671, emergency lighting, and building regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and assurance throughout project delivery, from pre-works review to handover.
• Act as technical point of contact, supporting project managers, installation teams, and clients.
• Define and review inspection, testing, and commissioning requirements, ensuring robust handover documentation.
• Produce and review technical records, standard work instructions, and quality assurance tools.

What we’re looking for:
• Relevant qualification (HNC/HND or degree) and equivalent experience in electrical engineering, building services, facilities engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of BS 7671 (18th edition expected or at least a willingness to obtain)
• Experience in compliance-focused roles within commercial or operational buildings.
• Confident communicator with a practical, commercially aware approach.
• City & Guilds 2391 and emergency lighting/BS 5266 knowledge are desirable but not essential.
• LED experience is beneficial but not essential. It can be learnt.

Comprehensive benefits package including a dedicated car allowance and performance bonus.

Hybrid role. Mix of Berkshire office based, site and remote.

If this could be of interest to you, then I’d love to hear from you asap. Thanks!
